Is Your Debt Catching Up with You in Atlanta, GA?

Gavel and Justice Scales

In lieu of the pandemic, many Georgians are weekly visiting the Atlanta Community Food Bank delivery trucks that roll into downtown. Food insecurity is high and there are still people falling through the cracks. Many residents are trying to financially cope with the blow of the virus. Residents are wading through the deep waters of the economic toll of lost jobs.

Government intervention has protected many residents from bankruptcy. Expanded unemployment benefits and moratoria on evictions and foreclosures have all helped the Atlanta population in their time of need.

Practical Ways to Help Avoid Financial Woes

There are many ways to try to keep your head above water, financially speaking. There are a plethora of economic strategies to put into place before a real emergency hits. Unfortunately, the disaster has already hit and now we are all riding the waves back to an uncertain future. Besides creating an emergency fund of six months of income, you can do some smaller steps to stay afloat.

First, create a realistic budget and stick to it. Figuring out where your money is going is a great feeling of security, as every dollar is being allocated to a place of need. Next, do not impulse buy. Try to put off any large items, wait a night or a couple of days before buying any large price item, even if it seems needed and not just wanted. Do not buy something just because it’s on sale.

Next, get medical insurance if possible. Check into your state-sponsored medical programs, they are out there. Ask around on social media for some tips on finding these resources. Finally, charge items only if you can afford to pay for them now. Credit cards can become your undoing. Cut them up or put them someplace they are not easily accessed. Avoid large rent or mortgage payments, if you can do so.

Financial Options

Do not wait for your creditors to contact you. Make the contact first, especially with mortgage companies. They have protocols in place for help with making the payments and help if you have been financially impacted by COVID-19.

Contact a local lawyer for any bankruptcy questions. They may be able to help with tenant protection information as well. There are resources out there, you do not have to go it alone.

Contact Gingold & Gingold, Bankruptcy Lawyers in Atlanta, today for your financial relief resource team. They can help with a comprehensive plan with many options for resolution. Don’t delay, give them a call today.

They did an excellent job with my case. Jamie took the time to really listen and understand things. She delved into the details and was extremely knowledgeable and non judgmental. Very professional and they know what they are doing. Would definitely recommend!

Dear Mr Gingold, There are so many reasons to be thankful for all you have done and will do. Anyone who has ever had unfavorable experiences with an attorney or the legal system will feel the trepidation that I experienced once I realized that my situation seemed hopeless. It was by chance and happily good luck that I decided to put my future and sanity into your hands. I was mortified at having to deal with my debts by claiming bankruptcy. I remember in our first meeting how you assured me that I was not alone and should not feel ashamed. And, anyone in this position obviously does not have money to spare and you were clear about all the costs and allowing me to pay according to my own ability to do so. You advised me in all aspects of the law, but also, you were at each meeting incredibly supportive and complementary of my personal and professional plans. Anyone else in this situation should feel blessed to have access to your expertise and support.

I contacted getting old and getting old regarding some old tax debt and credit card debt that I needed to address and had been putting off. miss Irving in the office was very very nice and put me at ease. I met with Jaime Gingold. She was very nice and explained the procedure to me and what would be left owing to the Internal Revenue Service and the State of Georgia after my case was done. My case has now been completed and I am on my way to a new start. Thank you Gingold and Gingold for all of your help.
