Foreclosure in Georgia is down, but not out

Foreclosue Sign on Top of For Sale Sign in Front of House

Foreclosure is one of the most frightening and disheartening things that can happen to an individual or family. The recent tough economic times have made foreclosure a serious threat for a lot of people. A series of financial struggles can lead from being unable to pay your monthly pills to falling behind on your mortgage, and falling behind on your mortgage can put you at risk of foreclosure.

The fear of losing one’s house has been particularly real for residents of Carroll County. According to a recent report, Carroll County saw nearly one in every 43 homes facing foreclosure filings in 2013. This means that roughly 2.35 percent of all homes in Carroll County were threatened with foreclosure last year. Even more frightening is the fact that this number is down 49 percent from the foreclosure rates of 2012. Despite the foreclosure rate being nearly half of what is was the previous year, the report states that Carroll County still ranks number seven in the state of Georgia for foreclosure rates.

While things appear to be getting better, they’re still not ideal. In Douglas County, the number of building permits has gone up to 325, but that number pales in comparison to the 2,600 permits recorded in 2006. Unfortunately, the state of Georgia as a whole fares poorly as well. Georgia is ranked sixth in the nation in foreclosures.

Foreclosure is a very real threat in our state, but you don’t have to live in fear. Filing for bankruptcy can save you from foreclosure by putting into effect an automatic stay that will prevent creditors from taking legal action against you. While this stay won’t save your house forever, it will give you enough time to deal with all of your financial challenges. Don’t let creditors frighten you into foreclosure; you have options.

They did an excellent job with my case. Jamie took the time to really listen and understand things. She delved into the details and was extremely knowledgeable and non judgmental. Very professional and they know what they are doing. Would definitely recommend!

Dear Mr Gingold, There are so many reasons to be thankful for all you have done and will do. Anyone who has ever had unfavorable experiences with an attorney or the legal system will feel the trepidation that I experienced once I realized that my situation seemed hopeless. It was by chance and happily good luck that I decided to put my future and sanity into your hands. I was mortified at having to deal with my debts by claiming bankruptcy. I remember in our first meeting how you assured me that I was not alone and should not feel ashamed. And, anyone in this position obviously does not have money to spare and you were clear about all the costs and allowing me to pay according to my own ability to do so. You advised me in all aspects of the law, but also, you were at each meeting incredibly supportive and complementary of my personal and professional plans. Anyone else in this situation should feel blessed to have access to your expertise and support.

I am very pleased with my decision of going with Gingold & Gingold to represent me when I filed Chapter 13 bankruptcy.

I contacted getting old and getting old regarding some old tax debt and credit card debt that I needed to address and had been putting off. miss Irving in the office was very very nice and put me at ease. I met with Jaime Gingold. She was very nice and explained the procedure to me and what would be left owing to the Internal Revenue Service and the State of Georgia after my case was done. My case has now been completed and I am on my way to a new start. Thank you Gingold and Gingold for all of your help.
